Mieka & Marley
Mieka and Marley
Marley is very special to Mieka and has been her steadfast companion
for four
years.
Her fiancé's desire to have a miniature dachshund of his own, was
fulfilled in
March of 1999, when Marley gave birth to three beautiful, and unique male
pups:
Laz, Rowdy, and Marley Boy!
Sean also wanted his father, Danny, to have one of the pups because Danny
was
so fond of Marley and enjoyed her company immensely whenever they'd drop
by
for a visit.
And that left Rowdy. Well, Mieka wasn't about to separate 'The Boys' therefore,
Rowdy now keeps his mother company at Mieka's place , as well as his brother
Laz (Sean's temporarily saddled Mieka with the chores of tending to all
of their
dogs). Marley Boy however now resides in Eagle River with Sean's parents.
THE SIBLINGS
Laz, Rowdy, and Marley Boy, get together occasionally and have a blast
tearing up and down the countryside in back of Danny's house. The competitive
spirit they all exhibit is normal and by day's end they are all ready for
a long
night's slumber! Check out 'The Boys' below.

PEAS IN A POD
In the beginning all three puppies looked a lot alike one another, albeit
a little
longer, shorter, or stockier, but as they approach their 14th month here
on earth,
they have developed into very different, unique, yet extremely lovable
dachshunds.
ROWDY AND LAZ
Rowdy and Laz continue to live with their mother, Marley, at Mieka's house.
They
are truly bonded and almost inseparable, but their personalities are so
very
different from one another. Laz is warm and friendly and quick to greet
you, while
Rowdy is shy and timid, and just as soon be on his own (unless you have
a treat to
give him or a ball with a bell in it, that is).
Put them outside together and they think they own the world. They'd play
for hours
if allowed, but here in Alaska they can only stay out for a short while
during the
winter. In the summer it's a very different story however. They love going
to Danny
and Sharon's house to play with Marley Boy and have the freedom to run
and
roam as they please (As long as we keep an eye out for the valley's resident
Bald
Eagle that is. He's often seen hovering overhead looking for squirrels
and other
varmits and these miniatures must look like a real treat whenever he sees
them
frolicking in the backyard and down the hillside). Otherwise, they enjoy
their
new surroundings and backyard on the Southside of Anchorage, and sure have
taken a shining to the other member of their household, Dana.
MARLEY BOY
Marley Boy is now the proud owner two Eagle River residents, Danny and
Sharon
Shepherd. He recently lost his mentor and best pal, D.O.G., but has settled
back
in nicely into the family quarters after having spent a few months on the
road
touring North America. Acutally, to see Marley Boy's favorite picture of
